“Kwacha Afrika” is an indigenous coastal phrase which means ‘Arise Afrika.’ Over the years, Kwacha Afrika has grown from a purely theater-oriented organization to become a leading youth organization, which works throughout the Coast region of Kenya. The organization seeks to engage the youth both in and out of school in social and economic empowerment initiatives to uplift their living standards.

Kwacha Afrika seeks to engage youth living in poverty both in and out of school in social and economic empowerment initiatives thereby uplifting their living standards.
PROGRAMME AREAS
TALENT IDENTIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Youths in each of the six counties in the Coast region are engaged as change agents in their communities through the use of arts and sports.
PEACE AND SECURITY
Youths in the coastal region are sensitized on early warning and early response to conflicts, insecurity, and violent extremism.
ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION
Residents from the Coastal region participate in advocating for sustainable environmental management and mitigation of extreme effects of climate change.
HEALTH, GENDER, DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSONS AND OTHER VULNERABLE GROUPS
Differently Abled People and other vulnerable groups from 6 counties of the Coast region participate in transforming their communities through the programs run by Kwacha Afrika.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SMALL BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY
Youths from the 6 counties in the Coast region are trained every year on entrepreneurship skills and small business management.
GOVERNANCE AND ACCESS TO JUSTICE
Men and women from each of the six counties at the Coast participate actively in influencing policy towards good governance, access to justice, and the rule of law through holding their leaders accountable.

Many development actors have supported the organization’s activities since it started in 2000. These include the youth and the wider community in the Coast region, particularly in Kisauni, Mombasa where Kwacha Afrika is based.
