PROGRAMME AREAS

To deliver on its priority areas, Kwacha Africa structures its work into the following programme areas:

TALENT IDENTIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT

Youths in each of the six counties in the Coast region are engaged as change agents in their communities through the use of arts and sports.

GOVERNANCE AND ACCESS TO JUSTICE

Men and women from each of the six counties at the Coast participate actively in influencing policy towards good governance, access to justice, and the rule of law through holding their leaders accountable.

ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION

Residents from the Coastal region participate in advocating for sustainable environmental management and mitigation of extreme effects of climate change.

HEALTH, GENDER, DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSONS AND OTHER VULNERABLE GROUPS

Men and women, Differently Abled People and other vulnerable groups from 6 counties of the Coast region participate in transforming their communities through the programs run by Kwacha Afrika.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SMALL BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY

Youths from the 6 counties in the Coast region are trained every year on entrepreneurship skills and small business management. 

PEACE AND SECURITY

Youths in the coastal region are sensitized on early warning and early response to conflicts, insecurity, and violent extremism.

PROGRAMME FOCUS

The focus for Kwacha programmes is to play a facilitative role in empowering the youth to design, implement and evaluate their own development. Programmatic support to grassroots processes that encourage practical methods of comprehensive community renewal and motivation towards participation is critical. Current programmes areas are: talent Identification and Development, Environment and Climate Change Mitigation, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Sustainability, Governance and Access to Justice, Health Gender Differently Abled Persons and other Vulnerable Groups, and Peace and Security​.

REQUIREMENTS

To be a volunteer at Kwacha Afrika one must be:

  • Kenyan Citizen
  • Aged between 18 and 34 at the time of entry.
  • Has a valid ID card.
  • Be ready to work in a community set-up.
  • Be ready to learn and embrace team work.
  • Be ready to travel within the coastal region whenever need arise.
  • Be able to appreciate inter-cultural & Multi-cultural values.
